Liturgy, drama, preaching, and narration
Medieval Latin liturgy, drama, and preaching are living, oral arts of performance as well
as texts. They all constitute forms of storytelling and draw on narrative texts. In different yet related
ways, liturgy, drama, and preaching are all exegetical in nature and share aspects of Biblical commentary. The
written record offers insight into the performance of liturgy, drama, and preaching, which took on their full
meaning in the moment of celebration and utterance.
